Cisco Live kicked off in Las Vegas on Monday with Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins opening the conference, followed by a surprise appearance from Apple’s CEO Tim Cook. Cisco and Apple announced their partnership two years ago with the aim to create a dedicated iOS for enterprise customers. During Cook’s unannounced visit, he provided further detail on how Apple’s upcoming operating system iOS 11 will benefit organisations through specific enterprise updates within the operating system. During Cisco Live, Cisco unveiled another initiative in collaboration with the iPhone giant. The two companies have joined forces to develop the ‘Cisco Security Connector app’, for enterprises. The aims is to ensure enterprises can provide secure iPads and iPhones in the workplace. Cisco announced in a statement: The Cisco Security Connector offers security functionality from Cisco Umbrella and Cisco Clarity in a single app. It can be deployed on enterprise supervised iOS devices via a mobile device management (MDM) solution, such as the Cisco Meraki Systems Manager. With the Cisco Security Connector, organisations gain the following: Visibility: Ensure compliance of mobile users and their enterprise-owned iOS devices during incident investigations by rapidly identifying what happened, whom it affected, and the risk exposure. Control: Protect users of iOS devices from connecting to malicious sites on the internet, whether on the corporate network, public WiFi, or cellular networks. Privacy: Safeguard corporate data and users by encrypting internet (DNS) requests.
